Dr Nathan Chrismas

I am a biologist and ecologist working on the diversity and functional ecology of cryptogams (lichens, mosses, and fungi). I use molecular -omics approaches to investigate nutrient metabolism and symbiotic interactions in marine and terrestrial systems. I have a particular interest in understanding how these organisms are responding to environmental change in arctic and alpine ecosystems.

I am a strong advocate for environmental awareness in outdoor and adventure sports and I deliver both general and specialist workshops on lichens and natural history to climbers, mountain leaders, and other outdoor enthusiasts.
